Auto insurance is very important for everyone who owns a car.  Not only is it legally required in most areas, but it can also provide necessary protection both physically and financially.

Although you may be one of the best drivers on the road, you can’t predict when an accident might occur.  Bad driving conditions, negligent drivers, and unexpected difficulties on the road could all lead to damaging accidents, and having the right auto insurance can help you come out on top.

Understanding the importance of auto insurance and how it works will help you choose the best policy for yourself, your family and your car.

Don’t Buy into Minimums

Throughout the United States, both the government and most lenders require auto insurance. However, the minimums they require are never a good option for you or your car.

Instead of only purchasing the minimum amount of required insurance, consider researching plans to find a policy that works for you. We will do this for you and present our findings – you might even be surprised when reasonable limits cost nearly the same as minimum limits while providing a lot more coverage.

Understand Your Coverage

Each insurance policy covers a range of possibilities, and understanding the coverage can help you make the best decision.  Here are a few important types of coverage you may want to know about:

Bodily Injury Liability

  • Covers injuries or death someone else suffers as a result of an accident you’re at fault or partially at fault in.

Property Damage Liability

  • Covers physical damage to another person’s vehicle or property that you're at fault or partially at fault in.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage

  • Protects YOU if you’re involved in an accident with an uninsured motorist. Unfortunately, Florida has one of the highest uninsured driver rates in the country with nearly 20% of all drivers carrying no insurance.

Comprehensive Damage

  • Provides coverage for damages resulting from things other than collision, including vandalism, fire, flood, etc.

Collision Damage

  • Provides coverage for a collision involving moving or inanimate objects.

Although these are the most important and basic types of auto insurance, this list is not comprehensive.  Additional inclusions can cover rental cars after an accident, towing costs, and many other important expenses.

Now that you have a basic understanding of auto insurance, you are better equipped to make your decision.  Give Bradenton Insurance a call for more information.
